 Jacqueline completed her Master of Arts in Museum Anthropology at Columbia University and Bachelor of Arts degrees at UCLA with a double major in history and anthropology. Additionally, she worked at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, American Museum of Natural History, Tenement Museum and Belmont Mansion. Jacqueline honed her teaching strategies: empowerment, excitement, and excellence, while teaching history and serving as an interventionist in both reading and writing at City Year, New Orleans. She also has experience tutoring AP history classes. Jacqueline looks forward to sharing her passion and knowledge in elementary school language arts, social studies, science, and math, middle school social studies and language arts/reading intervention, and high school english, US history, world history, AP history classes and AP Literature classes. Her favorite hobby is discussing all things Disney!

Shelby has 20 years of experience in education. She has a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and a B.A. in Elementary Education. Shelby is also a proud graduate of Clemson University! She has taught English in Seoul, South Korea, high school Spanish, and has spent the majority of her career teaching primary grades K-6.  Shelby's passion and primary career focus is working with teachers and at-risk students,  as a literacy coach in MNPS, to increase literacy rates. Frederick Douglass said, “Once you learn to read, you will be forever free”; Shelby believes that being able to read allows one freedom and the confidence to choose any path in life; opens doors figuratively and literally. Everyone can learn to read, they just need a teacher with passion and purpose to take the time and effort to determine how to best instruct the individual student; she is that teacher. Shelby is excited to begin working with even more students, and parent-teachers  to “fill in the educational gaps” and walk through some doors that have been closed to us over the past few months.

"Hi there! My name is Brittnie. I look forward to creating a dynamic tutoring experience for your student to engage in. My specialty areas lie within Mathematics and Science, yay how fun? These subjects are sometimes the least favorite among students, but no worries, with some one on one time that will quickly change! My grade levels include elementary-middle schoolers. I believe in a conversational style learning where the student and teacher both contribute to the learning process.  I like to “talk out the problem” with the student step by step for a through and crisp understanding of the subject. My goal isn’t for the student to just “pass the exam” but rather for them to integrate real life problems with their school work to increase a long term understanding and a high memory retention rate. By doing so, the student can build on a solid foundation and excel academically.  When I am not nose deep in the books my self, I enjoy cooking Caribbean based dishes, hiking, going go-karting, swimming, hanging out with my girlfriends. traveling and binge watching  Netflix series with my husband on the couch. But enough about me, I’m excited to meet you and your student! I hope to see you soon!"

My teaching philosophy is centered on the ideal that the best way to learn is to work problems through completely using problem solving and critical thinking instead of the answer just being given. It is important to promote confidence in students by letting them lead the way through the problems and validating them as they learn while providing helpful tips, hints, and knowledge where needed. Some of my own hobbies include music, embroidery, reading, working outdoors and gardening and cooking! I also have two cats and a dog that I spend a lot of time with."

  Hi there! Nice to "meet" you. I'm an eager educator at heart who is ready to set goals and crush them. I have completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Strategic Communication and a minor in Public Relations and Event Planning from Morehead State University. I am currently working on my Masters in Teaching (K-5) from the University of the Cumberlands. I am excited to make this transition into my dream career of working with students. I believe that each student has the potential to be successful with a helping hand. I am passionate about the learning process and believe that guidance, a healthy challenge, creativity, and interactivity are key components to students' success. I look forward to helping students succeed in elementary school math, science, language arts, and social studies; middle school math, science, language arts, and social studies; high school language arts, AP literature, and personal finance. When I'm not hitting the books, I enjoy working with clients for my photography business, finding new music, small business development, hanging on the lake, and enjoying the outdoors with my pup, Cora. Hello all! I specialize in Special Education (K-5). My areas of expertise are Reading, Language Arts and Math. I have worked in MNPS as a paraprofessional for over 3 years. During such time, I have worked with a wide range of learning disabilities. 

My teaching philosophy is if a student cannot understand the way we teach, we need to reevaluate our style of teaching to align with the needs of the child. This includes slowing down and breaking the material into “smaller chunks”, if necessary. I believe tutoring allows for this to happen more organically due to the intimacy between the student and the tutor. 

I am currently working on a Masters in Elementary Education. I am enrolled at Tennessee State University. And, I absolutely love it! Some of my hobbies include music, watch movies, trying new restaurants, singing, playing basketball and bowling.

Hi! My name is Bre’Yonna, but I go by Bre. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Tennessee State University, and I have experience with students of all ages, and I am currently working toward my Masters in secondary education at Tennessee State University. I am excited to take this next step in my career as an educator, and to put my passion for teaching to good use. My teaching philosophy is that we should give students all the tools that they need to succeed and guide them in the right direction in order to build their independence and critical thinking skills. I am very eager to begin working with elementary students in math, science, language arts, and social studies, as well as middle and high school students in English and language arts. In my free time I enjoy reading, writing, listening to music, and jewelry making. I look forward to working with you and your student!

My name is Verlene ("Vee"). I currently hold a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and I plan to obtain my Masters in Special Education. Working with children has been a passion of mine since elementary school. I found joy in helping other students even if I was struggling with my own class work. My biggest goals in life are to help each child know that they are smarter than think they are, they can overcome any learning struggles and that learning can be fun. I specialize in Special Education (K-12); Math (K-3); Reading, Writing, and Social Studies (K-12). My teaching philosophy is centered around that fact that all people learn differently and it is my job to teach each person in the way that best suits and challenges them. My hope is to make learning as fun as possible and to help each child become more successful than they imagined.

Some of my hobbies include weight lifting, powerlifting, reading, listening to music and podcasts about Christian Apologetics.

Victoria enjoys teaching and witnessing learners achieve their goals. Her education experience spans from early childhood, K-12, higher education and non-profit work. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from The University of Tennessee. 

With several years working experience in education – most of her experience has been as a dedicated K-12 substitute teacher for Metro Nashville Public Schools. She was an interim 8th Grade English teacher as well as worked as a Site Coordinator for an after-school program. Her passion for education and serving learners has allowed her to continue to make a difference in the lives of her students and families through tutoring. Her teaching philosophy is that all students are different and it is important to create a learning environment that is supportive of their uniqueness, helps them, and has the tools they need to develop confidently in their own learning. Her goal when working with families is to establish an open community with parents, so that everyone is involved and invested in their student’s academic growth. Her goal when working with students is to get them excited about learning by making lessons relatable, fun and to facilitate them in a way that is on pace with their learning style. She believes that learning is a process and her teaching style includes a coaching/mentor approach along with being a facilitator to help her students understand and connect with the lessons. Victoria works with elementary school language arts, science, social studies, math and middle school language arts, study skills and test preparation. Her hobbies include journaling, bird watching, yoga, reading books, watching the BBC Earth channel, creative arts, listening to music, getting outdoors and spending time with her family and friends. She is ready to begin working with students and excited to share along in their learning!

As an educator, I believe learning is the pathway to success and impact on the world. I look at education as a tool that all children can obtain with the proper guidance. When students are having difficulties, it is the role of the educator to differentiate and accommodate so all children can see success. I have my Bachelors in Elementary and Middle School Education, with a certification in Special Education. I also have my Masters degree in Special Education, and I am currently completing my Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Special Education. I was a classroom teacher for grades K-8, working with general and special education students. I have experience teaching children with ADHD, autism, behavior disorders, and learning disabilities in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. As a developmental therapist, I also have experience working with children 0-3 and their parents to help the little ones reach important developmental milestones. I love to cook, bake, and craft, finding a way to be creative when I am not working with my favorite kiddos. Learning is a whole family approach, therefore, educating parents on how to help their children succeed is necessary.
